Cornwall Businesses Gather to Support Launch of St Petrocs’ Project Pickle
Pickle Party draws business leaders, radio voices and community figures to Fistral launch
A unique fundraising project tackling homelessness in Cornwall was launched in style last week, as business leaders from across the county gathered at Rick Stein Restaurant Fistral for the Business Networking & Launch Party of Project Pickle.
The event, hosted by homelessness charity St Petrocs, brought together entrepreneurs, community leaders and creatives to celebrate the official start of Project Pickle – a partnership between St Petrocs, Rick Stein Restaurants, and Beach Guardian.
Pickling with Purpose
The heart of the campaign is a bespoke cauliflower-based chutney, grown, made and jarred with care. The chutney is being sold to raise funds for St Petrocs’ vital work, which includes accommodation, outreach and specialist support for people experiencing homelessness across Cornwall.
Guests attending the launch weren’t just there to mingle. Dozens of volunteers from Cornish businesses rolled up their sleeves to help label hundreds of jars of the signature pickle chutney. Each label, placed by hand, became a symbol of collective commitment to help end homelessness in Cornwall.

Support from across the county
Among those attending was Nicola Langridge, Director at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio.
“We were delighted to support and attend the Pickle Party,” said Nicola. “It was fantastic to see so many Cornish businesses coming together for such a meaningful cause. From a local radio perspective, we believe it’s our responsibility to amplify community-driven initiatives like this. Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is proud to shine a light on the work St Petrocs is doing and help share their message with our listeners across the county.”
Also showing his support was Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, whose presence underlined the importance of the project and its backing across sectors in the region.
From jars to impact
The launch included speeches and networking, as well as a closer look at how collaborations between charities and local businesses can bring real, lasting change. Every jar of Project Pickle sold will contribute directly to St Petrocs’ goal of ensuring everyone in Cornwall has a safe place to live.
