Two Homes Shut Down in Bude After Reports of Drug Dealing and Violence
Police take action following community concerns
Two properties in Bude have been shut down by police following ongoing reports of drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour.
The closure orders, granted on Tuesday 3rd June, apply to two addresses on Berries Avenue. They make it a criminal offence for anyone to enter either of the homes for the next three months.
Reports of drug use and disturbances
The action was taken after Devon & Cornwall Police received multiple reports from the public about suspected drug dealing, violence and disturbances linked to the addresses. Officers said people had been seen visiting the properties at all hours, including individuals under the influence of illegal substances. Drug paraphernalia was also found outside.
PC Nina Sargent, who helped secure the closure orders, said:
“The drug supply, associated ASB and criminal behaviour that had been taking place in and around these properties was having a significant detrimental impact on local residents and the wider community.
It was important that we took robust action in response to the reports we were receiving, protecting local people from experiencing further harm.
Whilst these closure orders provide temporary relief, our officers will be working closely within the area and with the tenants to deter future offences.
Everyone deserves to live in peace and without fear of crime. This type of criminal behaviour will not be tolerated and we will continue to take action against those responsible.”
Tenants referred for support
The tenants have been signposted to support services while the orders are in place. Police confirmed they will continue working with the individuals involved to help prevent future issues.
PC Frank Morgan thanked those who came forward:
“I’d like to thank the local community for coming forward and reporting incidents to the police. It’s because of your vital information that we have been able to secure these closure orders.
We will continue to work closely with local people and organisations to target those causing harm and protect the wider community.”
