Two kayakers found themselves in perilous waters just off the coast of Bude on Thursday evening, prompting a swift response from local surfers and the Bude inshore lifeboat crew.
Urgent Rescue Operation
At 7:42 pm on Thursday, the Bude inshore lifeboat was dispatched to a distress call involving two kayakers struggling to stay afloat. The incident occurred just off Bude’s town beaches, a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts. As their kayaks began filling with water and started to sink, the situation quickly escalated, leaving them unable to return to shore safely.
Timely Assistance
In a fortunate turn of events, several local surfers spotted the struggling kayakers and rushed to their aid. They helped the pair navigate the choppy waters back to Summerleaze beach, where they were met by the arriving lifeboat crew. The RNLI team swiftly conducted welfare checks to ensure the kayakers were unharmed, apart from their ordeal, and provided crucial safety advice to prevent future incidents.
Ready for More
After the rescue, the lifeboat crew returned to their station to prepare for any further emergencies. The boat was thoroughly washed down and refueled, keeping it ready for immediate action. This routine is part of the crew’s commitment to maintaining a high readiness level for all types of sea rescue operations.
Lifeguard Patrols Increased
