Bude Lit Fest: A Cultural Celebration Returns in 2024
The eagerly awaited Bude Literary Festival is set to make a grand return in 2024, following its record-breaking success in the previous year. Scheduled to run from Thursday, 16th May to Sunday, 19th May, with a special Schools Programme from Monday, 13th May through to Friday, 17th May, the festival is gearing up to offer an even more diverse and vibrant lineup than ever before.
With tickets having gone on sale on Friday, 1st March, anticipation is high among literature enthusiasts. The festival’s dedicated line-up page is the go-to spot for securing tickets and exploring the array of over 70 events planned for this year. Attendees are promised an enriching experience with a variety of authors, poets, directors, podcasters, and even a chef, offering workshops both within the community and local schools.
The Bude Literary Festival, proudly presented by the Bude-Stratton Town Council, has garnered significant support from the local community, including businesses, volunteers, and cultural institutions. The festival’s organisation and success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of Richard Wolfenden-Brown, the event programmer, the team at Bude Library, and a dedicated group of volunteers, alongside the support from local businesses and venue supporters.
After 2023’s festival broke box office records, this year’s event is set to continue the tradition of celebrating literary and cultural creativity. The festival will feature a wide range of activities, including family-friendly events, competitions, and a Free Family Fun Day on Sunday, 19th May, at The Castle lawn, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.
A highlight of the festival is the extensive Schools Programme, made possible through the support of local businesses. This initiative aims to inspire and encourage young minds through free author workshops, fostering a love for literature among the youth of Bude.
The full extent of this year’s lineup and activities can be anticipated in the festival’s full-page souvenir brochure, set to be released in April. With the festival’s growing reputation as a beacon of literary and cultural celebration, both the residents of Bude and visitors from afar are invited to partake in what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
For those looking to support the festival or join the volunteer team, further information can be found on the festival’s “Support Us” page. As the festival continues to grow, the community’s involvement remains a vital part of its success.
The Bude Literary Festival is more than just an event; it’s a testament to the power of literature and the arts to unite communities, inspire individuals, and celebrate the rich tapestry of human creativity.
