The new St Tudy Community Hub has officially opened its doors, with a special event held on Thursday, 13th February to mark the occasion. The Trustees of St Tudy Playing Field Trust welcomed a host of distinguished guests, including Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Ben Maguire, MP for North Cornwall, and Cornwall councillors Louis Gardner and Dominic Fairman.

To celebrate the opening, Amy Bunt, captain of Cornwall’s Women’s Rugby team, cut the ceremonial green ribbon, joined by St Tudy Primary School pupils Kenzi and Tom. Following the ribbon-cutting, Harold Sheer had the honour of cutting the cake, under the watchful eyes of St Tudy Preschool children Ronan and Isla.

Community Comes Together

After the formal proceedings, the community gathered to enjoy tea, cake, and guided tours of the new building. The event saw many local contributions, with preschool staff and committee members decorating their rooms to showcase the new space. The trustees expressed their gratitude to those who helped make the event a success, including:

  • Mo Russell for providing scones and tablecloths.
  • Sue Handford for supplying plants.
  • Tanya Smith of The Cuppa Cakery for baking a logo cake.
  • Di Dingle for making cupcakes.
  • Jane King for cakes and beautiful flower arrangements.

The trustees also extended thanks to Harold Sheer for the cake cutting, school and preschool children for their involvement, and everyone who attended to celebrate this milestone for the St Tudy community.

The new St Tudy Community Hub is set to become a vital space for local activities, strengthening the community spirit that was on full display at the opening event.
