Exciting New Look for Bodmin Family Hub Now Offering More Support for Families
Bodmin’s Family Hub has undergone an exciting expansion and makeover, offering even more support for parents, carers, children, and young people in the local area. Located on Fore Street, the hub has been a vital resource for 16 years as part of Cornwall Council’s Start for Life programme, with around 700 people visiting each month.
New Spaces to Better Serve Families
The renovation has added four new service delivery spaces for families and professionals:
- A purpose-built activity space for children under five
- A comfortable ‘huddle room’ and calm space
- A multipurpose activity area adaptable for different sessions
- A state-of-the-art training space with advanced video conferencing and presentation technology
In addition, the hub now includes a fully accessible kitchen designed for use during activity sessions. For professionals, a new hot-desking area and a staff collaboration space encourage multi-agency working to ensure families receive the support they need.
Open Day Invitation
Residents are invited to visit the new-look Family Hub on Saturday, 19th October, from 10am to 1pm for a guided tour of the facility.
Supporting Families in Bodmin and Beyond
Cllr Barbara Ellenbroek, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for children and families, expressed her excitement about the revamped hub:
“It’s wonderful that families in Bodmin can now make use of this revamped Family Hub, and all of the support it provides. Places like this are really important for parents and carers who might need a helping hand on their parenting journey, or just want a safe space to connect with peers and make new friends.”
She added: “Family Hubs bring services together helping parents, carers, children and young people to access the support they need more easily. This can be anything from support with breastfeeding and mental health to guidance on how to give children a head start on their learning.”
Ben Davies, service director for children and family services at Cornwall Council, highlighted the importance of early help for families:
“‘Early Help’ is at the heart of our whole approach to helping families in Cornwall – helping more families earlier and more effectively. Family Hubs are a huge part of that, providing families with easy access to a wide range of education, health, and social care services close to where they live so that they get the right support at the right time as their babies and children grow up.”
Family Hubs Across Cornwall
Cornwall boasts 23 Family Hubs, designed as ‘one-stop shops’ for families, offering a wide range of services, from general parenting advice to mental health support. The hubs also help with antenatal care, employment advice, relationship building, and more.
