Discover Free Cycling Activities at Bodmin Leisure Centre
Get Active and Eco-Friendly with B.E.A.T. Days
Bodmin Leisure Centre is set to host an exciting day of cycling activities designed to promote healthier travel choices and environmental consciousness. The event, part of the B.E.A.T. (Better Engagement in Active Travelling) programme, is scheduled for Monday, 16th September, from 10am to 2pm.
A Partnership for Active Travel
This free event is made possible through the collaboration between the charitable social enterprise GLL, The Cornwall Bicycle Project, Cornwall Life Recycle, and the Active Travel Social Prescribing Team. It’s supported by funding from Active Travel England and Cornwall Council, reflecting a growing commitment to sustainable travel solutions across the region.
What’s On Offer?
Visitors to the B.E.A.T. day can look forward to a variety of activities:
- Information Stands: Learn more about how you can get involved in active travel projects and programmes.
- Puncture Repair Workshop: Pick up practical skills to maintain your bicycle with a hands-on puncture repair session.
- Guided Ride Out: Bring your bike and join in a group ride starting at 2pm, exploring the scenic routes around Bodmin.
- Bike Recycling: Have an old bike gathering dust? Bring it along to be recycled, as long as it’s free from rust.
Karen Edmond, GLL’s Community Sport Manager, highlighted the multiple benefits of cycling, “Cycling is a great way of keeping fit, saving money, and helping the climate. Experts will be on hand to provide free practical advice on how participants can enjoy being active in Cornwall – whether or not they have a bike of their own.”
