Bidfood’s New Bodmin Depot Creates Jobs and Boosts Local Connectivity

Bidfood Expands in Cornwall with New Site

Leading foodservice provider, Bidfood, has unveiled a new 15,000 sq. ft depot in Bodmin, North Cornwall, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to enhance service delivery across the South West. The new facility, located on the Cooksland Industrial Estate, is expected to create up to 30 new jobs for local drivers, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.

This new depot is part of Bidfood’s broader strategy to improve infrastructure and expand its reach across the UK. The Bodmin site, soon to be Bidfood’s 27th depot, will play a key role in easing the seasonal pressures on the company’s Lee Mill depot while improving connectivity and service for customers in the region.

Enhanced Service for the South West

The Bodmin depot introduces a bespoke Independent Service, allowing both existing and new customers to place orders online or via Telesales until 10 pm daily, with next-day delivery. Initially, the site will focus on operating van routes to enhance the road network in Cornwall and North Devon. Plans are already in place to introduce Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) once the necessary operating licence is secured, further expanding Bidfood’s capabilities in the region.

Richard Dow, Bidfood’s Business Unit Director for Chepstow, Swansea, and Lee Mill, expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility, highlighting its role in the company’s commitment to service excellence. Richard noted, “I’m incredibly excited to assemble this new team to provide an even better service to the Devon and Cornwall area.”
