Charlie and the Chocolate Factory heads to Hall for Cornwall this summer
RAOST returns to the Cornwall Playhouse
Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust (R.A.O.S.T) is bringing Roald Dahl’s magical world to life at the Cornwall Playhouse, Hall for Cornwall, with a musical stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The show runs from Wednesday 30th July to Saturday 2nd August.
This colourful and imaginative adaptation promises golden tickets, chocolate rivers, mischievous Oompa Loompas and a spectacular experience for the whole family. Featuring unforgettable songs, dazzling sets and a talented local cast, the production invites audiences of all ages into the extraordinary world of Willy Wonka.
A celebration of creativity and imagination
Directed by Helen Hartshorne, the show offers a fresh take on Dahl’s timeless tale.
“Bringing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to the stage has been a true celebration of creativity, heart, and pure imagination,” said Helen. “This production invites audiences of all ages to rediscover the magic of storytelling – where the unexpected becomes possible, and where compassion and curiosity lead the way. It’s been a joy to reimagine this world with our incredibly talented cast and crew.”
Tickets are on sale now via Hall for Cornwall’s website, by calling 01872 262466 or visiting the Box Office in person.
Local talent returns to the stage
This marks R.A.O.S.T’s first full show week at the newly refurbished Hall for Cornwall and their first production at the venue since 2012. The society, formed in 1909, has a long-standing tradition of producing high-quality amateur theatre and has previously staged musicals like Crazy For You, Oliver, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, The Sound of Music and Titanic.
Several familiar faces return for this production, including Gareth Harris (Grandpa Joe), Frankie Millard (Mrs Bucket), Trenton Spear-Williams (Mr Beauregarde), Roxanne Dash (Mrs Beauregarde), Natasha Shrigley (Ensemble) and Rachel Barratt (Ensemble). Helen, now directing, previously starred as Polly in Crazy For You and Nancy in Oliver.
Young performers Ella Baker and Kerra Brownlee, who have both appeared in Hall for Cornwall pantomimes, take on the roles of Violet Beauregarde and Veruca Salt respectively. Musical Director Steve Hill, who conducted last year’s Hall for Cornwall panto, also returns for this production.
Don’t miss out
With just four performances scheduled, demand for tickets is expected to be high. Don’t miss the chance to step inside the chocolate factory and experience the magic this summer.
