Police Renew Appeal Following Discovery of Body Near Truro
Police are asking the public to help trace the movements of a man whose body was discovered between Truro and Probus earlier this month.
Lee Hockey’s Final Movements
50-year-old Lee Hockey, who was from the Truro area, was found dead in woodland at around 6pm on Tuesday 1st July. Detectives are treating the case as a suspected murder.
The last confirmed sighting of Lee was in Trispen on the evening of Monday 23rd June. Earlier that day, police say he had spent time in Truro city centre before taking a bus out to the Trispen area. From there, it’s believed he may have continued on foot, but his exact movements remain unknown.
Police Renew Public Appeal
Detective Inspector Rob Smith from the Major Crime Investigation Team said:
“As our enquiries continue we are refreshing our appeal for information. Anyone who saw Lee between 23 June and 1 July is urged to come forward.
“It has been confirmed that Lee spent the most of Monday 23 June in Truro city centre, before taking a bus out to the Trispen area.
“The last-confirmed sighting of Lee was in Trispen later that evening. His whereabouts from there are currently unknown but it is likely he would have been travelling on foot.
“We are urging anyone who may have passed through Trispen, Tresillian or the surrounding the villages, and who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage in those areas, to please check them.
“If you have anything that may be relevant to us, please report it as a priority.”
He added that although the case is understandably concerning for the community, there is currently no information to suggest a wider risk to the public.
Submit Footage and Information
Detectives have set up a Major Incident Public Portal, where the public can upload large files including CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage. The portal is intended to help gather any relevant information that could assist in the investigation.
Police continue to urge anyone who was in the areas of Trispen, Tresillian or the surrounding villages between 23rd June and 1st July to check their footage and come forward if they saw Lee or anything unusual.
