Public Survey Launched on Crime and Antisocial Behaviour in Cornwall

Survey open until 31st August

People across Cornwall are being urged to share their views about crime and antisocial behaviour where they live, work or visit, as part of a county-wide effort to shape safer communities.

Safer Cornwall, a partnership of organisations working together to improve community safety, has launched its annual ‘Have Your Say’ survey, available now on the Let’s Talk Cornwall website until Sunday 31st August 2025.

The survey is part of a wider effort to better understand the challenges faced in different areas and to build a clearer picture of which issues are having the greatest impact. Insights will help shape how the newly published Safer Cornwall Partnership Plan 2025-2028 is delivered.

Why your voice matters

Cabinet member for community safety and public health, Cllr Thalia Marrington, said:

“I would encourage everyone to take the time to complete this survey. It only takes about 10 minutes and the more people who complete it, the better our understanding will be of the key issues facing our communities and how to tackle them.

We want to create vibrant, safe, and supportive communities where people help each other to live well and the results of the Have Your Say survey will help equip us with the knowledge to achieve this.”

The survey also provides a year-on-year snapshot of how concerns shift across the county, helping to guide future priorities.

What’s already been flagged in Cornwall

According to the findings used to shape the new three-year plan, Cornwall’s top concerns include:

• Speeding and careless driving

• Rubbish, litter and vandalism

• Drug use and dealing

• Street drinking

• Persistent antisocial behaviour

• Intimidating groups

• Low confidence in the response from police and local partners

Understanding the problems and working together

Chair of Safer Cornwall, Simon Mould, said:

“As chair of Safer Cornwall, I know that residents’ views and experiences are crucial when it comes to shaping our efforts to prevent and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, tackle problem use of drugs and alcohol and reduce re-offending.

By letting us know about the issues in your community, and what you think could be done about them, we can work out the best solutions together to make sure Cornwall is a safe place for everyone.”

What the new plan aims to tackle

The Safer Cornwall Partnership Plan 2025-2028 sets out priorities based on local data and evidence. While responding to visible problems such as antisocial behaviour and drug misuse remains a key focus, the plan also highlights the need to address less visible harms, including domestic abuse, sexual violence and exploitation.
