Person Rescued from Cliffs at Silvermines Beach Near Porthpean
Casualty Safely Extracted with Help from Fowey RNLI
Emergency teams rushed to Silvermines Beach near Porthpean on Monday after a person was found stuck on the cliffs.
The incident, which happened on the 1st July, saw St Austell Coastguard and Mevagissey Coastguard respond to the scene after a 999 call was made by members of a local canoe club who had spotted the stranded person.
The coastguard teams quickly set up rope rescue equipment and deployed a rope rescue technician to reach the casualty. Due to the challenging terrain on the descent, the team called for assistance from Fowey RNLI.
Thanks to the combined effort, the casualty was brought down safely to the base of the cliff and taken to a nearby beach.
St Austell Coastguard thanked the canoe club for calling 999 and reminded the public to always call 999 and ask for the coastguard in any coastal emergency.
