Police Appeal After Reported Assault on Child in Goonhavern

Police are appealing for information after a child was reportedly assaulted in a park in Goonhavern earlier this month.

Incident in Goonhavern Park

Between 10.30am and 10.45am on Sunday 8th June, an elderly man is reported to have sworn at a young boy before pinning him down by the neck in Goonhavern Park on Bridge Road.

When challenged by someone nearby, the man allegedly claimed he was restraining the child.

The pair then left the park together in a red vehicle. Neither the suspect nor the victim has been identified.

Child Believed to Be Around Eight

Police say the boy is thought to be around eight years old.

Officers are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant footage to get in touch.
