Research Project Aims to Help Cornwall Prepare for Climate Change
A new community-focused climate project is calling on people across Cornwall to help shape how climate information is shared before it’s too late.
Grace James, a researcher with Climate Vision Cornwall, has launched a short online questionnaire to support a wider project looking at how communities can better prepare for climate change. Working alongside Luci Isaacson, Grace is helping to promote a free CPD (Continuing Professional Development) course aimed at giving local people the tools they need to face the growing challenges linked to our changing climate.
“Our goal is simple: equip people with the tools to face what’s coming, before crisis hits,” said Grace.
Shaped by Early Inspiration
Grace’s passion for climate action was sparked by a childhood school visit from a speaker known as “Rainforest Phil” when she was just 10 years old.
“That brief moment of education changed my life, and it’s what motivates my work today, nearly 15 years later,” she said.
Now she’s asking people in Cornwall to take a few minutes to fill in a short survey to help gather insight into how trusted messengers can best communicate important climate information to the public.
A Local Effort With Wider Impact
The research and CPD course are part of a bigger push to build resilience across communities in Cornwall by helping people understand what lies ahead and how to prepare.
