Is Liskeard About to Change? Draft Town Vision Revealed – Have Your Say

Public feedback open until 7th April 2025

A new draft report aiming to shape the future of Liskeard has been released, and residents are being invited to share their views.

What’s the Draft All About?

Liskeard Town Council, supported by the Cornwall Council Town Accelerator Fund, has commissioned national regeneration experts HemingwayDesign to work alongside the community to review and refine the town’s direction.

The move comes after the town’s Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), approved in 2018 with 91.8% support in a referendum, led to a number of projects and actions to improve the town—many of which are now complete or underway.

Since the NDP’s creation, Liskeard has faced a range of new challenges, including the impact of the Covid pandemic. With changes in how people live, work, shop and study, and shifting expectations of town centres, the time felt right to assess progress and revisit priorities.

A Fast-Paced Review

The process has moved quickly, taking place over just 16 weeks. Commissioned on 19th November 2024, the work has included:

• Stakeholder meetings in December and January

• Community and student workshops in February, with over 100 people taking part

• The release of a draft report in March

“We wish to thank all those who participated in the workshops and hope you can see how your input has helped shape this document and its recommendations,” said the Town Council in a statement.

Where to Read the Report and Give Feedback

The draft Liskeard Town Vision is now available online via the Liskeard Council website. Feedback is open to the public until 9am on Monday 7th April 2025.
