Keep Your Dog on a Lead or Risk Trouble

Devon & Cornwall Police’s Rural Affairs Team and Liskeard Police are teaming up to raise awareness about the importance of keeping dogs on leads around livestock on Bodmin Moor.

They will be at Minions Car Park on 1st March between 10:00 and 12:00, offering advice on the risks of dogs worrying livestock and discussing other rural issues affecting the area.

Why It Matters

Livestock worrying can have devastating consequences, not just for farmers but also for dog owners. Dogs off leads can chase or attack sheep and cattle, leading to injuries, stress-induced miscarriages, and even death. In some cases, farmers are legally allowed to shoot dogs that are found worrying their animals.

Get Advice from the Experts

Officers will be available to answer questions and offer guidance on how to protect livestock and ensure dog owners stay within the law. Whether you’re a regular walker on Bodmin Moor or just passing through, they encourage you to stop by for a chat.

The Rural Affairs Team and Liskeard Police said, “We look forward to seeing you then.”
