Thousands Flock to Cornwall Gold’s First Christmas Market

A Festive Success Despite Challenging Weather

Cornwall Gold’s inaugural Christmas market, held from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th December, has been declared a resounding success. Thousands of visitors braved less-than-ideal weather conditions to enjoy this festive event, which took place in the attraction’s dedicated event room next to its award-winning café. The event not only showcased local talent but also bucked the trend of declining visitor numbers seen by many attractions across the South West this year.

Showcasing Local Talent and Community Spirit

The market featured 26 stallholders offering a variety of local products, including Tan Dowr Vodka, Kernow Coast Creative, Jimaginations, Age UK Cornwall, and the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Visitors were treated to a diverse shopping experience while supporting local artisans.

Community engagement was a key highlight, with Treleigh School Choir performing on Friday morning and Father Christmas making several appearances. Children had the chance to meet him, write letters, and post their Christmas wish lists.

A Unique Cornish Experience

Visitors to Cornwall Gold’s Christmas market were also able to enjoy the site’s free interactive Tolgus Mill exhibition, which provides insights into Cornwall’s tin milling history. The onsite Grade II listed Tolgus Mill was open for exploration, offering a blend of history and festive cheer.

The experience extended to the award-winning Pantry café, where record-breaking sales reflected the event’s popularity. Shoppers could also pan for gold, visit the jewellery showroom, and explore the dog-friendly trails with free parking adding to the convenience.

Mike Taylor from Cornwall Gold summed up the event, saying, “We are absolutely thrilled with how successful our first Christmas market has been and the impressive footfall is testament to the local community’s interest in supporting local artisans in the comfort of Cornwall Gold. Offering an indoor Christmas market experience, surrounded by Cornish history, really makes us stand out.”

Mike also thanked the team for their hard work, adding, “Their efforts have paid off and I am pleased to confirm that our Christmas market will be a firm fixture on the Cornish Christmas calendar from now on!”

Stallholders Share Their Praise

The market also received glowing feedback from stallholders. Shelly Lee from By Shelly Lee commented, “Wow. What a weekend, a massive thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came along and a huge thank you to Cornwall Gold for putting on one of the best events I have been to this year.”

Kelly Tonkin of Kelmi Kreft added, “This was honestly the best fair I have attended this season… All the staff were super friendly and helpful, and I hope to attend any future events that you may run.”

Looking Ahead to 2025

Building on this year’s success, Cornwall Gold has already confirmed its next Christmas market will take place from 4th to 7th December 2025. Additionally, the event room is now available for hire, with enquiries directed to events@cornwall-gold.com.
