Free Parking in Cornwall Council Car Parks and Truro Park and Ride on Selected December Dates

In a bid to support local shopping and ease travel, Cornwall Council is offering free parking in all of its car parks and free travel on the Truro Park and Ride on selected days this December. These include two Saturdays—7th and 14th December—and Monday 23rd December, allowing residents and visitors to take advantage of stress-free parking during the festive season.

Small Business Saturday Support

The Council is once again backing Small Business Saturday, a national event aimed at promoting the success of small businesses and encouraging the community to shop locally. This year marks the 11th year of the event, with Small Business Saturday falling on 7th December.

To help support the high streets and small businesses across the county, the free parking scheme is extended to two additional days in December, giving shoppers more opportunities to visit local stores in the lead-up to Christmas.

Truro Park and Ride Offer

For those heading to Truro on 7th, 14th, or 23rd December, the Truro Park and Ride service will also be free, with buses running regularly throughout the day. The two bases, Tregurra and Langarth, offer more than 2,500 parking spaces combined, making it convenient for those looking for easy access to the city centre during busy holiday periods.

How the Free Parking Works

Cornwall Council car parks, which are clearly branded, will display posters at charging points detailing the free parking offer on these days. For those parking in ‘pay on exit’ car parks, you’ll need to take a ticket from the entrance as usual. If you only park on the designated free day, the exit barrier will open without charge when you leave. However, if your stay extends beyond the free parking day, any additional parking fees will need to be settled before you exit.
