Cornish Pirates Score Tasty Partnership with Warrens Bakery
The Cornish Pirates have announced a new partnership with Warrens Bakery for the 2024/2025 season, securing the historic pasty maker as their Official Pasty and Pasty Supplier. This partnership sees the world’s oldest pasty maker joining the Cornish Pirates as both an Official Partner and a Community Partner, bringing a unique blend of tradition and local pride to the rugby club.
A Slice of History
Warrens Bakery, established in 1860, has a rich history rooted in the Cornish community. Originating from St Just, near Land’s End, the bakery was founded when two families combined their skills to create traditional hand-crimped pasties, freshly baked bread, and a selection of scones and biscuits. Over 160 years later, the recipes and techniques that made Warrens Bakery a favourite among miners, farmers, and locals are still in use today. With 40 stores across the West Country, Warrens Bakery continues to serve the region with the same dedication to quality.
Building on Past Success
This new partnership extends the relationship between the Cornish Pirates and Warrens Bakery, following the bakery’s player sponsorship of Hugh Bokenham last season. Warrens also played an active role in the Cornish Pirates’ community outreach programme, promoting the team in schools across Cornwall, encouraging youth participation in rugby, and nurturing future rugby talent in the county.
Ross Hancock, the Cornish Pirates’ Head of Media, Marketing and Commercial, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued collaboration, stating, “The Cornish Pirates and Cornwall are synonymous with pasties, so to have the oldest Cornish Pasty maker in the world on board is a massive coup for us and a no brainer.”
Shared Passion for Community and Rugby
Warrens Bakery’s commitment to supporting the local community and its rugby heritage was echoed by their Marketing Manager, Louise Batty. She highlighted the shared values between Warrens Bakery and the Cornish Pirates, noting, “Our partnership with the Pirates underscores our commitment to investing in community-driven projects that promote the sport and its values throughout Cornwall.”
Batty also emphasised the importance of this partnership in fostering the next generation of rugby players, adding, “Together with the Pirates, we hope to inspire and support the next generation of rugby players throughout Cornwall.”
As the new rugby season approaches, fans of the Cornish Pirates can look forward to enjoying Warrens Bakery’s iconic pasties at the Mennaye Field, making every matchday experience a true taste of Cornwall.
