In an awe-inspiring show of endurance and dedication, Karsten, a priest and operational call-out member of the West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team (WCSAR), successfully completed the Fellsman, a challenging high-level traverse that spans over 60 miles of rugged Yorkshire moorland.
This formidable route starts in Ingleton and concludes in Threshfield, climbing a staggering 11,000 feet along the way.
A Cause Worth Supporting
Last weekend, Karsten not only tackled the physical demands of the Fellsman but also turned his endeavour into a fundraising opportunity, raising £1,000 for WCSAR. The funds were joyfully presented to Paul, the team leader, enhancing the resources of this vital community service. On his JustGiving page, Karsten expressed his gratitude to the supporters, stating, “Feeling very sore now (especially my feet) but in a strange way enjoyed the experience. Thank you everyone for your generosity in sponsoring me. West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team is a very worthy cause.”
Never Too Late to Donate
For those who have not yet had the opportunity to contribute, Karsten’s fundraising page remains open for donations. This support is crucial for the WCSAR, which operates entirely on voluntary contributions and is on-call 24/7, every day of the year, including public holidays.

Volunteer Heroes
WCSAR’s team of unpaid volunteers is committed to aiding the emergency services in locating lost, missing, or injured individuals. Their relentless service is a lifeline in the community, providing peace of mind that help is always available, no matter the circumstances.
